Over the course of the school year, 1st-5th grade students build their creativity and writing skills, learn from local writers and artists, and discover their community and the greater world. All students engage in the writing process through fun activities and reflection. Their polished work appears in the CYC's yearly anthology, The Book of Explosions. Participants work closely with caring staff and volunteers in a comfortable, imaginative space. While no one has ever met the CYC's most elusive proprietor, Captain H. Tanny, postcards with the captain's writing tips, encouragement, and tales of adventure often find their way to our mailbox.
